About The Scholarship

The SOARforCHANGE Scholarship is a $10,000 award ($2,500 per semester for 2 years) for students pursuing a postsecondary degree.  Each annual winner is required to maintain a positive academic standing at the accredited school of their choice (SOAR), actively participate in a community service program of their choosing (forCHANGE), and participate in our mentorship program.  Of course, you must be willing to share your journey with us so we can publicize the amazing work you do on social media!

The 3 step application process is used by the SOARforCHANGE Board of Directors to select our annual award recipients.

The information page will consist of the general information covering items such as student’s information, parent or guardian information, educational history, and desired post secondary education path.  

Each prospective award winner will submit a letter of recommendation from their current school counselor, mentor, or faculty member at their current high school.

Let YOUR passion shine through! Each prospective student will be asked to submit a Passion Project that answers two simple questions:

1. What does continued education mean to you?
2. What will you do to make an impact in your community while continuing your education?

Are you a great writer? Let’s see it! Is music your passion? Let’s hear it! Is poetry your jive? Let’s read it! Is presenting your strength? Record that video!

The Passion Project is meant to showcase the skills of the incredible young women and men that SOARforCHANGE is looking to support. Bring on that creativity! We cannot wait to listen to your music, watch your presentations, dance to your rap, and read your essay or poetry. The medium is your choice, but don’t forget you must answer the two questions in your Passion Project.

• February 1st:  Application Process Begins
• March 15th:  Application Submission Deadline
• April 15th: Denver Kids Scholarship Award
• May 18th : Los Alamitos High School Scholarship Award

• Be a graduating high school senior
• Earn a minimum high school grade point average of 2.75
• Have a minimum 2 years in Denver Kids or be nominated by your Los Alamitos High School counselor
• SOARforCHANGE recipient may attend any two or four-year, nonprofit, accredited college or university in the United States.  Scholarships may not be used at technical or trade schools, or for participation in certificate programs
• Financial assistance will be a selection criteria for Los Alamitos High School Students.  Please upload your Expected Family Contribution Form from your FAFSA and any supporting documentation of your current situation.
